Connie's Column

Greetings Stitchers -

Kids are back in school, vacations over - time to stitch!  Although WHAT time isn't??  This year there are so many wonderful fall designs that I'd have no fingers left if I stitched all I want to.  I know Abby has featured lots of new Halloween designs in our newsletter - so I"ll just mention a few..........

When Witches Go Riding, from Prairie Schooler and Salem Remembered by The Primitive Needle

(remember to go to Connie's Column - under Featured Products - where you'll find projects currently in my column...as well as archives!

As you can see...I like witches!!

By far, my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving - I'm kind of campaigning (sorry) to save Thanksgiving.  There's so much hype about Halloween and Christmas that I feel Thanksgiving is overlooked.  Probably because retailers don't have anything to sell you for Thanksgiving except the food.  How could you not love a holiday that's about family togetherness and lots of food?  No strings attached - no gifts, costumes etc. to buy!

I love the story of the Pilgrims and Indians getting together one year.  I even made my whole family watch a movie on the History Channel about the Pilgrims - it was very good - maybe they'll show it again this year.  Someday I'd love to actually go to Plymouth for Thanksgiving - has anyone out there done this?

I plan to devote 1 wall of my dining room to Thanksgiving related stitching

- this is what I've got so far -

count your blessings   be ye

Count Your Blessings from X-Appeal Designs and Be Ye Thankful from Cricket Collections - 2 older designs.

In progress I've got Shepherd's Bush Pilgrim Pie -another oldie but goodie.

it's a little hard to see...but it's cute!

I've just added to my "to do" list Prairie Schooler - November.  I love both the verses

I've also added - Thomas (I think he's the cutest turkey ever) and Delivering Plenty, from Homespun Elegance

Depending on the stitching time in your life - you could get one of these done for this Thanksgiving.  If you're inspired to do a Thanksgiving design but have very little time, there's Just Another Button Company's Thanks which is quick and adorable.

thanks

(as usual, Molly has created a wonderful frame for it....don't miss that!)

I think this year especially, we all need a day to be Thankful for the things that are good in our lives, when the news is so full of negative things, so please join me in Thanksgiving, Joy and stitching.

This is what greets you in my foyer -

What better way to celebrate a "warm fuzzy" holiday than with Teddy Bears?

Happy Stitching in these golden autumn days and cozy nights.

Until we Chat Again........
